We’re glad you’re interested in pursuing your education at Yakima Valley College. To start a degree or certificate program as a full- or part-time student you must apply for admission and take a placement test or provide transcripts for evaluation by the deadline. You’ll then be able to schedule your new student orientation session. Follow the steps in this brochure to get started!

Applying is easy! Just follow the steps below to complete admission to YVC.

  • Apply now for admission online or in person at Deccio Higher Education Center.
  • Pay the $30 application fee. The fee must be paid online as the last step in the application process.
  • Applications for admission will not be processed until fee is paid.

Complete the FAFSA application at fafsa.gov or the WASFA application (undocumented Washington residents only) by March 1.

ctcLink Info
You will need your student ctcLink ID, which you’ll receive when you complete your application, and student email. You can use our Student Email Lookup Tool to find your student email.

All new students must have both English and math placements to register for classes. You have many options for placement, including the YVC placement assessments.

Placement Options

Once you have applied for admission and received your ctcLink student ID number, email placement@yvcc.edu for testing instructions.

  • If you have graduated high school within the last two years, send your high school transcript to placement@yvcc.edu to be evaluated for English and/or math placements.

  • If you have taken a placement test at another college within the last two years, have your results sent to YVC Testing Services: placement@yvcc.edu.

  • If you have successfully completed English and/or math courses at another college, send an official college transcript to admission@yvcc.edu

If you have attended another college or university, please request an official copy of your transcripts to be sent to Admissions.

Many of the selective admissions programs require transcripts as well. Please send a second official transcript directly to the program.

Look for a New Student Orientation email with time and date after:

• Your YVC application is processed
• Admissions has received your placement scores or transcripts
• You’ve selected a pathway

*Students who transfer or have completed 30+ college-level credits are not required to attend New Student Orientation
