Bachelor of Applied Science Programs
Yakima Valley College offers students an opportunity to earn a Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) degree in a variety of academic disciplines.
YVC’s Bachelor of Applied Science programs are designed for students who have earned an applied associate’s degree and need a pathway to an applied bachelor’s degree. This pathway combines lower-division technical and transfer courses with upper-division credits, resulting in an application-oriented, four-year degree.
Degree Options

Agricultural Sciences
The Bachelor of Applied Science in Agricultural Sciences (BASAG) is designed for students who have earned an applied associate’s degree and seek a pathway to advance their education by pursuing a four-year degree. The program is offered in a hybrid format and classes take place in the evening two times per week with continued instruction and interaction online. The BASAG program follows a cohort model and accepts students on an annual basis each fall.

Business Management
The Bachelor of Applied Science Degree in Business Management (BASM) is designed for students who have earned an applied associate’s degree and seek a pathway to an application-oriented four-year degree. Classes are offered during the evening, with each class occurring one time per week for two hours. The BASM program accepts students on an annual basis each fall.

Dental Hygiene
The curriculum in the Dental Hygiene, BAS program consists of six quarters of professional education and clinical experience preceded by a demanding program of prerequisite courses. A bachelor of applied science degree in dental hygiene is earned upon graduation. The Dental Hygiene curriculum includes general education, biomedical sciences, dental sciences, and dental hygiene sciences.

Bridge to Dental Hygiene
The Bridge Program offers Registered Dental Hygienists who have earned an Associate of Applied Science degree a pathway to earn a Bachelor of Applied Science Dental Hygiene (BASDH). Graduates of Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) approved Dental Hygiene programs are eligible to apply for the YVC BAS-DH Bridge Program.

IT Networking - System Administration
The Bachelor of Applied Science in Information Technology Networking – System Administration (BASIT) degree is designed for students who have earned an applied associate’s degree and need a pathway to an applied bachelor’s degree. Classes are offered during the evening, with each class occurring one time per week for two hours. The BASIT program accepts students on a quarterly basis.

Teacher Education
The Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Teacher Education at YVC integrates rigorous applied curriculum and residency experience. The BAS Teacher Education program prepares individuals for a Washington State Teacher Certificate in Elementary Education (K-8) with additional optional endorsements in English Language Learner (ELL) and Early Childhood Education (ECE).
