Emergency Procedures
The Yakima Valley College Emergency Preparedness Plan is designed to give guidance in case of an emergency. The procedures outlined are intended to prevent injury to persons and property. Not all emergencies can be anticipated, so use reasonable and prudent discretion as situations arise.
In the event of an emergency, immediately call 911, and then contact Campus Security at 509.574.4610 for assistance.
Emergency Prepardness Plan
The Yakima Valley College Emergency Preparedness Plan is designed to give guidance in case of an emergency while preventing injury to persons and property.
Hazard Communication Plan
The Hazard Communication Plan provides safety guidance to Yakima Valley College regarding the purchase, storage, and disposal of hazardous chemicals in the workplace.
Exposure Control Plan
The Bloodborne Pathogens and Exposure Control Plan is designed to eliminate or minimize
employee occupational exposure to blood and certain other body fluids.
Accident Prevention Plan
The Accident Prevention Plan (APP) addresses safety and health hazards found in the workplace. Yakima Valley College considers APP as the cornerstone safety program.
SDS/MSDS Search
SDS online provides Safety Data Sheets (SDS) to Yakima Valley College students, faculty, and staff. MSDSonline provides online library of Safety Data Sheets (formerly known as Material Safety Data Sheets or MSDSs).
Employee Safety
The safety committee consists of representatives from the various departments and divisions on campus who bring their safety concerns from their respective areas. The committee meets the second Tuesday of each month at 1:00 pm in the Martin Luther King Room located in the HUB on the Yakima Campus. The committee reviews accidents/incidents that may have resulted in injury. The committee may also make recommendations and submit them to the appropriate areas for corrective action. The committee also reviews and makes any suggestions that would enhance the safety of the campus.
