Launch of New Website – August 28 at 11 a.m.

On Wednesday, August 28, Yakima Valley College plans to launch our new public website. This is scheduled to take place at 11 a.m. and advance preparations have been made to minimize the amount of time our website will be down. However, we expect there will be a brief period when people are unable to reach yvcc.edu webpages. If you try to visit yvcc.edu at or shortly after 11 a.m. and have trouble reaching the website, please wait a few minutes and try again.

Getting ready – Canvas, ctcLink & Student Portal

Our website launch will not impact your ability to use Canvas, ctcLink or the student portal, even if yvcc.edu pages are temporarily unavailable. However, we strongly recommend you bookmark or favorite direct links to each of these applications so that you can access them directly even while the college’s public website is offline.

What can you expect from the new website?

We’re excited to launch our new website, which will have features designed to better support students in accessing the information they need.

  1. A refreshed, more modern design. View this screenshot for a sneak peek at our new homepage.  
  2. Improved keyword search. The search bar will be more prominent and allow users to enter search terms directly rather than having to click to a new page. This screenshot shows the new search bar circled. Please note that it may take a few days for search to return results that are as precise as they are on the current website.
  3. A more concise quick links menu. We have streamlined the quick links menu to make it easier for students to navigate to the information they most frequently need. See this screenshot showing the new quick links menu.  
  4. Improved integration of content from the catalog. Following the initial launch of our new website, we will work to integrate more information from the online catalog (for example, a list of course offerings in a particular subject) onto associated pages on the public-facing website. This work is expected to take several weeks.
