Yakima Valley College is accepting applications for the Radiologic Sciences Associate of Applied Science program for 2025-2026. Deadline to apply for this eight-quarter degree or the two-quarter CT certificate is March 1.
YVC’s Radiologic Sciences program qualifies students to use ionizing radiation in diagnostic imaging, while developing the professionalism and ethics central to quality patient care. Following an eight-quarter program, graduates are eligible to apply to take the national registry exam offered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and seek employment in hospitals, clinics and physician offices. With additional training, and/or college coursework, graduates are eligible for careers in CT, MRI, nuclear medicine, radiation therapy, administration, and education.
"YVC has taught me the value of hard work and dedication and how you should never be afraid to stand out on your own," says Kaidie Juarez who completed her associate of applied science in radiologic sciences in 2024 and has aspirations to make a difference in the local healthcare industry.
“I hope to be able to nurture and guide future students down this pathway and make a difference for them. One day I hope to be able to teach in a school setting the future generations of radiologic technologists and be a positive influence for those I meet along the way.”
The career offers competitive pay with an average wage in the Yakima area of $34.46 per hour or $71,680 annually, and a Washington state average of $43.22 per hour or $89,910 annually according to data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics as of May 2023.
Students enrolled in YVC’s Radiologic Sciences program are eligible for extra financial assistance through the college’s Opportunity Grant program. The program helps eligible low-income students with the cost of tuition and mandatory fees as well as reimbursement for textbooks and supplies.
