Yakima Valley College is gearing up for the return of hundreds of face-to-face classes and a resumption of full, in-person student services in Fall 2022 as part of its “Welcome Back Yaks!” celebration.
The return of more in-person instruction, academic support, student services and activities on both the Yakima and Grandview campuses is an important step for the college and the entire community said President Linda Kaminski.
“While our students and faculty adapted well to the shift to largely online instruction over the past two years, we know that the on-campus experience adds a tremendous amount to our students’ success,” Kaminski said. “YVC has always been extremely successful in being a place where students feel they belong and can find the academic and other support services they need. We look forward to this return to pre-pandemic life and reinvigorating our campus community.”
Additional student services are returning to in-person operation this summer and full, in-person business hours for all campus operations will resume starting Tuesday, September 13. Fall quarter classes begin September 19. Online courses and support services will continue to be offered for students who need them.
In preparation for Fall 2022, YVC will host multiple Express Enrollment Days this summer on the Grandview Campus where new students can get hands-on assistance with completing the application process, starting an application for student aid, taking placement tests and exploring academic pathways with an advisor. Continuing YVC students can also participate and get assistance registering for fall quarter classes. YVC’s $30 application fee for new students will be waived for anyone who attends an Express Enrollment Day. The event is family-friendly and no appointment is needed.
Express Enrollment Days provide a great opportunity for anyone interested in starting their college plans said Marc Coomer, dean of College and Career Readiness and YVC’s Grandview Campus.
“Don’t wait anymore or tell yourself ‘tomorrow’ — YVC is ready to help you start working toward a new future now,” Coomer said.
