The Yakima Valley College Choir will perform with the Yakima Symphony Chorus and Orchestra for their Holiday Pops Spectacular at the Capitol Theatre on December 8, 2024 at 4 p.m. YVC Director of Choral Music and Instructor Steven S. Slusher who also serves as Chorusmaster with the Yakima Symphony will again combine his two chorus ensembles for this year’s event. According to Slusher, approximately 20 YVC students and alumni will be performing during the concert.

YVC’s Music program provides students with affordable academic courses and quality performing opportunities in vocal and instrumental music as well as private lessons. The department offers courses designed for students who have an interest in music as a nonmajor.

Slusher received a choral conducting master of music degree from Southern Illinois University and a bachelor of music degree in vocal performance from Ohio Northern University. During his 25+ years as a performer and educator, he has conducted throughout the United States from the Crystal Cathedral in California to Riverside Church in New York City. He’s won numerous vocal competitions and is an active soloist, recently soloing at The Capitol Theatre. He is an active adjudicator and belongs to ACDA, WMEA, and NATS.
