Applications are now being accepted for Yakima Valley College’s Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) in Teacher Education program for Fall 2025. The deadline to apply is April 30.

YVC’s Teacher Education (BAS-TE) degree program offers multiple pathways leading to teacher certification in K-8 schools with optional endorsements for English Language Learner and Early Childhood Education.

The program is residency-based with candidates completing an intensive residency experience (student teaching) that provides hands-on work in K-8 classrooms under the guidance of a mentor teacher and field supervisor within local partner schools. In addition to residency experiences, candidates complete core courses, which are delivered in a hybrid format combining face-to-face evening and online classes.

Program highlights:

  • Dedicated, experienced college faculty
  • Hands-on learning throughout the program
  • Flexible programming designed for individuals currently working in education or career changers
  • Evening courses blended with online learning
  • Residency teaching opportunities in local K-8 classrooms
  • Options for full-time or part-time attendance
  • Affordable tuition

YVC’s BAS-TE program has partnered with Saint Martin’s University on a new articulation agreement for the university’s Master of Education in Inclusive Education (MED) program. The agreement, which began in January and runs through June 2028, gives six YVC BAS-TE graduates guaranteed admission for this pathway to earning a master’s degree at a reduced tuition rate.
