Community members looking to get ahead by earning their degree or certificate can get hands-on assistance getting started at Yakima Valley College during Application Days taking place February 15 and 16.

During the Application Days, new students can get one-on-one assistance completing their application, applying for financial aid, and learning how YVC’s academic pathways can help them reach their career and education goals. No appointment is needed to participate.

Application Day Details

  • February 15 – 12:30 to 6 p.m., Yakima Campus, Deccio Higher Education Center (Building #8), South 16th Ave and Nob Hill Blvd.
  • February 16 – 12:30 to 6 p.m. Grandview Campus, Grandview Main (Building #56), 500 W. Main Street

Those participating in an Application Day should arrive by 5 p.m. if they need to complete both their application for admission and an application for financial aid.

After participating in one of YVC’s Application Days, new students will be set up for any additional steps they need to complete in order to take part in the college’s New Student Orientation and register for classes in March. Spring Quarter classes begin March 29.

Complete your application by February 21 to start classes this spring!

In addition to Application Days, anyone interested in beginning studies at YVC in Spring 2023 can contact the college’s Admissions Office for assistance at admission@yvcc.edu or 509.574.4712. What to Bring to Application Days

New first-time students and recent high school graduates should bring:

  • Test scores (SAT or ACT)
  • High school transcript
  • Transcripts showing any college credit for Running Start or other programs

Transfer students from another college should bring:

  • College transcript(s), official transcripts from another college must be brought sealed
  • Placement scores from a previous college, if possible

Upon completing their application and paying the $30 application fee, students will be able to complete their enrollment and register for Spring Quarter classes at YVC.

For financial aid assistance during Application Days, students are encouraged to bring the materials listed below for themselves and from parents/guardians. These documents may not be available to all students, but do not let it discourage you from participating. Volunteers will be able to help get your FAFSA or WASFA application started with whatever information you can provide.

All information and documents shared with volunteers will be kept private and confidential. Information will only be used to help students and families apply for financial aid.

Students should bring the following for financial aid assistance:

  • Social Security number and/or card (if applicable)
  • DACA work authorization number and/or card (if applicable)
  • Driver’s license or state identification card (if applicable)
  • If you were born after January 1, 1999 bring parent(s) and their 2021 income data (W-2s or year-end pay stub and/or 2021 tax return)
  • If you were born before January 1999, are married, have dependents you support or are active in or a veteran of the U.S. armed services, bring your 2021 income data (W-2s or 2021 tax return)
  • A valid email address for establishing Federal Student Aid ID (FSA-ID)
  • Student’s tax return & W-2s if employed in 2021

Parents/guardians should have available the following for financial aid assistance:

  • Their Social Security number and/or card and date of birth (if applicable)
  • Income tax return for 2021. If this is not available, students and families can estimate the information using 2022 year-to-date income information.
  • A valid email address for establishing Federal Student Aid ID (FSA-ID)
