High School+
It’s not a test. It’s a diploma!
High School+ gives individuals 21 years of age or older the opportunity to earn a high school diploma by earning high school credit in YVC Basic Skills classes.
As students show competency in specific subjects, YVC will grant high school credit. Students earn high school credit based on their ability to show they have met course competencies. Students are not required to pass the state assessment taken by high school students. Nor do they need to complete a senior project.
Students who qualify for High School+ will pay $25 per quarter.

Follow These Steps
Step 1
Contact the location you wish to attend to get the current entrance assessment schedule. You do not need an appointment, availability is on a first-come, first-served basis. Call 509.574.6850 or email ccr@yvcc.edu.
Step 2
Get registered for a 3-day orientation. Please request an official transcript from the last high school you attended to assist with the assessment. Official high school transcripts should be stamped and sealed.
Step 3
Get registered in classes for the quarter. The tuition fee is $25. Pay online or call cashier at 509.574.4660.
YVC can award high school credit based on evidence showing what students have already learned. High School+ builds on prior student achievement. In contrast, a high school equivalency (GED) exam does recognize any prior learning or high school credits earned. However, that does not mean that High School+ is easier than taking a high school equivalency (GED) exam.
YVC can grant high school credit based on student performance on YVC placement tools. An evaluation of a high school transcript will show which high school credits will transfer into High School+ program. Students may also be able to earn credits based on prior knowledge through high school training and/or work experience.
