LEED Gold Palmer Martin Hall

YVC’s Palmer Martin Hall has been awarded Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) Gold certification, as established by the U.S. Green Building Council and verified by the Green Building Certification Institute (GBCI). LEED is the nation’s preeminent program for the design, construction and operation of high performance green buildings. With design work by BORArchitecture, and GH Moen as contractor, Palmer Martin Hall features all-natural flooring, dual-duct heating and cooling with heat recovery in exhaust ports, and solar paneling on the roof.

LEED Gold Grandview Library

YVC’s Grandview Library, created in partnership with the city of Grandview, has also been awarded Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) Gold certification. The 12,000 square foot library fills a critical need by providing state-of-the-art access to information and technology for YVC students and residents of Grandview. Some of the Library’s green building features include: water-efficient fixtures allowing for 45% of water savings annually, equal to 32,444 gallons; daylight present in 94% of regularly occupied spaces; and recycled or regionally manufactured building materials.

Pacific Power Blue Sky Renewable Project

The roof of YVC’s Glenn Anthon Hall boasts a 30-kilowatt photovoltaic solar panel array. The project was made possible by funding from Pacific Power’s Blue Sky Renewable Energy Program. In addition, the building’s lobby includes a monitoring system sharing data produced by the solar installation, viewable to students and visitors. The project provides energy savings for the campus and provides faculty with information to discuss renewable energy in their courses.
