Interlibrary Loan
Interlibrary Loan
InterLibrary loan (ILL) is how we obtain materials for YVC students and staff that Raymond Library does not own. (We do not place ILLs for non-YVC affiliated individuals. ILL Requests by non-YVC individuals must be placed through your local public library or at your institution’s library.) In addition, we lend our materials to other libraries through ILL. If you are a Grandview student, the items you request will be sent to the Grandview Library. When possible,* items will be mailed to students enrolled in an eLearning course who do not live in the greater Yakima area or attend class at either the Grandview campus or the Yakima campus. Returning mailed ILLs is the responsibility of the borrower.
Enrollment in an eLearning course, other YVC courses, and address will be verified prior to mailing ILL requests.
Article requests usually take 3-5 days to arrive and books take 5-10 days to arrive. YVC does not charge for this service; however, if the lending library has a fee or charges for printing, you will be notified. You will need to pay the fee and/or charges prior to the ILL being submitted to the lending library.

YVC adheres to the copyright law of the United States (Title 17, United States Code), including that section of the law which governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted materials.
Under certain conditions specified in the law, libraries and archives are authorized to furnish an individual with a photocopy or other reproduction. One condition requires that the photocopy or reproduction will not be “used for any purpose other than private study, scholarship, or research.” If the individual making the request uses a photocopy or reproduction for purposes in excess of “fair use” as defined in the law, the individual may be liable for copyright infringement.
YVC Library & Media Services reserves the right to refuse to provide copies if, in its judgment, fulfillment of the request would violate the copyright law.
Central Washington University Library will loan materials and copy periodical articles at no charge to YVC students and staff.
