What I love most about teaching at YVC is the students.  Students are at the heart of the work I do! I enjoy building relationships with students that last for your time at YVC and beyond.  I enjoy hearing personal stories of how education and the course content have impacted student’s lives and the lives of the children they teach.  Students within the Early Childhood and Education programs are the next leaders of our children. It is important to me that my YVC students leave with confidence in their abilities to teach. Students will develop a growth mindset in the ever-changing field of education.  I enjoy building relationships with students to foster academic success.  I am here to help you succeed!

By taking my classes you will learn about child development and classroom management.  You will learn how to be a culturally responsive teacher.  You will see relevance and application to your future career (and life!) by engaging in current events in the field of education and culturally responsive practices that impact our local community.  Additionally, I enjoy supporting students as an advisor- I am happy to help you pick the best academic track for your future plans.

I love to be in classrooms and learn about best practices.  Education outside of a classroom context is only theory. My passion is supporting students and teachers in implementing best practices in the classroom to support academic and social development in children.  My scholarly passions lie in both dual language/bilingual education and literacy instruction- both reading and writing.  Personally, I am a mom to two young children who keep me busy! We love reading books, making crafts and cooking together.  I enjoy doing CrossFit workouts and reading mystery and psychological thrillers.  As a family, we love spending time on our boat or on adventures exploring new places.
