About Kevin Palmateer
I was a first-generation college student who started my education at a junior college before moving on to a university, much like many of the students I work with at YVC. I understand the importance of getting an education to help reach your personal and career goals, and I enjoy helping students succeed in reaching these goals. I have been a teacher and advisor here at YVC since 2000 because I enjoy it and want to, not because I have to.
The classes I teach are practical. I am not about students just taking a class because it is required for a degree. You will see the relevance and application of what I am teaching to your future career in business, and likely your personal life as well. I cannot promise that you will love the material I teach as much as I do, but I can promise that you will learn real-world applications and hopefully enjoy the time we spend together.
I am a family man, first and foremost, married to my awesome wife since 2001 and blessed with two great kids. A passion of mine has been athletics, as I started competing as a kid and then coached after my playing career was over. My favorites these days are mostly baseball and softball, but I enjoy watching athletes compete in about any sport. If I am not watching one of my one kids play, it is likely you will see me at an athletic event here at YVC. It is also possible that you will see me with a GSP by my side, as I am not sure I could survive without having at least one of those dogs in my family. Of course, with dogs like that, it also means that I enjoy the outdoors, including hunting, fishing, etc.
