About Jessica

I am a first-generation college student and my passion for sharing my love of Early Childhood Education drives me to reach as many potential teachers as I possibly can.  Prior to being an instructor here at YVC, I was working in the field providing side-by-side training and guidance for Early Childhood Education teachers as they navigated the expectations and challenges of the field. I often felt a natural calling to reach those teachers before they entered the classroom to help them feel more prepared and, ultimately, more successful in their careers. I am so thankful to be here at YVC where so many students share that eagerness and passion for career success.

If students are interested in understanding the fundamentals of Early Childhood Education and are pursuing ECE Washington State Certificates, my courses will help provide context for child development and real-world application of ideas to strengthen their teaching practice and improve upon their career prospects.

Academically, my interest is focused on developmentally appropriate practices, child development, and inclusive education practices for all students. My courses reflect those interests with the hope of encouraging future teachers to represent inclusive best practices in the work they do in their classrooms. Personally, I am an avid reader, nature walker, and I love a good outdoor picnic. I have three beautiful children and a dog that take up any, and all, the time I am not giving to my students and the courses we share.
