About Dustin
My passion is to tell people's stories of overcoming challenges, solving problems and making the world a better place. It's a privilege to tell these stories at Yakima Valley College, a Hispanic Serving Institution where 75% of our students are first-generation college students and that has been recognized by the U.S. Department of Education as being a national leader in fostering socioeconomic mobility.
I have served in higher education marketing and communications roles for more than 20 years after starting my career as a newspaper reporter. As YVC's chief marketing officer since 2020, I lead the Community Relations Department's work on internal and external marketing and communications. This includes publication of YVC Voice magazine, published three times annually.
Outside of work, I enjoy singing in the Yakima Symphony Chorus, volunteering with the Cowiche Canyon Conservancy, and exploring new trails in central Washington and beyond.
