Yakima Valley College recently selected Sophia Ferguson for the spring Employee of the Quarter Award. Ferguson is a program coordinator with the education program.
The Classified Employee of the Quarter Award is presented quarterly to one employee who demonstrates a high level of job performance, quality customer service and adherence to YVC’s mission and core themes.
“Sophia makes a huge impact in the EDUC-ECE Department and students,” shared a colleague who nominated her for the award. “She’s a stand-out contributor, and her skillful communication, systems of support, and positivity make us a better and more cohesive department. Sophia’s depth of knowledge, anticipation of student, faculty and systemic needs, and preparation makes her integral to the Education Department and Workforce Education Division.”
“In all Sophia does, she is demonstrating her commitment to YVC’s mission and core themes. She consistently seeks ways to best support students so they are able to access resources and supports in order to achieve success in their education and thus in their current or future careers. She consistently goes above and beyond by providing novice instructors, and current and prospective students with insights and knowledge about degree requirements, how to navigate institutional systems, and kind guidance about where to find resources. This allows us to build new capabilities, improve productivity, and continue successful completion of degrees and certificates for our many students. Sophia is outstanding and thorough in all of her campus endeavors.”
Employees who have been employed by YVC for at least one year are eligible for this award.
