The work of an influential Central Washington artist, the late Richard ‘Dick’ Elliott, will be featured at the Larson Gallery this summer.
Elliott and his wife, artist Jane Orleman, forged a creative life and home known affectionately as Dick and Jane’s Spot in Ellensburg – but their influence extends far beyond their home. Elliott’s work often incorporated unusual materials such as industrial highway reflectors in many of his pieces and large-scale projects including the prominent “Circle of Light” that surrounds the Yakima Valley Sundome.
Larson Gallery Director David Lynx is working with Elliott’s wife and former museum colleague Andy Granitto to install the exhibition.
“His dramatic use of color and light is not only reflected in the Sundome, but in his other media.”
— Larson Gallery Director David Lynx
“Circle of Light” is part of the state art collection managed by ArtsWA, the Washington State Arts Commission. This summer, the agency will begin planning much-needed repairs to the piece.
This exhibit will be on display from July 9 – August 27, 2022.
