New event emerges during COVID pandemic
When the COVID-19 pandemic threw a wrench into Larson Gallery‘s Annual Tour of Artists’ Homes and Studios, board members refused to buckle to the virus. Gallery Director David Lynx said board wanted to continue to offer art offerings and thus the first Fresh Air Art Celebration was born in 2021.
“The new event was literally a breath of fresh air,” said Lynx. “The Larson Gallery combined with the Yakima Greenway to create an event that celebrates both local artists and their artistic creations as well as the best walking/biking paths along the Yakima River.”
Building on the previous two years’ successes the 2023 Fresh Air Art Celebration again presented another celebration of fresh air and creativity in May featuring the work of many new artists.
More than 40 artists presented a variety of artistic creations on the Yakima Greenway. Unique items included wood, pottery, jewelry, handwoven cotton towels, Bonsai art, papier-mâché treasures, sterling silver and enamel jewelry, paintings in oil, acrylic, watercolor, even items created from re-purposed glass. In addition, food was available from What I Crave and Graze Craze along with wine and beer.
Visitors were also treated to live music from the Davis High School Band, followed by the Test Tube Poets, a local Indie folk band.
