During the 2023-2025 biennium, YVC’s Board of Trustees approved a minor works project for the college’s Technology Complex on the Yakima Campus. The building, a cornerstone of the Workforce Education Division, includes offices as well as classrooms and computer labs to support the college’s automotive service technology, veterinary technology, radiologic sciences, information technology and business technology programs.
Upgrades are underway to add staff office space and provide an environment that is designed to facilitate collaborative work. While other areas of the building have been updated over time, this renovation addresses space that had remained in its original condition. In addition to the office renovation, the building also received a new HVAC system and upgrades to the men’s restroom.
According to Dean of Workforce Education Skye Field, the upgraded HVAC system is central in providing support and maintaining appropriate temperatures in the server room for YVC’s Information Technology program. The additional upgrades are in line with other recent improvements made in the building which include new collaborative classrooms, student workspace furniture and day use lockers that were added in the past few years.
“Staff and faculty are excited to see the renovations to the Technology Complex and look forward to reconvening at the end of December to new collaborative workspaces designed with an eye toward the future of work,” said Field.
Work began on the project in June 2024 and is expected to be complete in December 2024.
