Welcome!

Student success is what the SSS program is all about. Nationwide, SSS programs assist underserved students in achieving their educational goals. For the past twenty-two years, YVCC SSS has provided academic and motivational support to thousands of participants who have graduated and gone on to further educational success.

Support is provided in many ways. We offer tutoring, academic planning & advising, personal & career counseling, visits to universities, supplemental learning labs, book loans, and more.

Services are available for your benefit, so use them. SSS is funded by a federally TRIO grant, meaning there is no cost to the student. We encourage you to take full advantage of the SSS services to ensure your academic success. Our staff look forward to working with you this year as you continue pursuit of your educational goals. Mission Statement

As our Mission states, the purpose of SSS is to increase retention, graduation, and transfer rates of our participants. To achieve this we consider each student’s individual success. Your commitment, as evidenced by complying with the following, is a vital part of your success and ours.

Meet with your counselor at least three times each quarter.
Attend classes, tutorial sessions, and workshops as recommended by your counselor to assist you with your educational goals.
Maintain at least a 2.5 grade point average while completing 12 credits per quarter.
Contact your counselor if you need to add or drop a class to your schedule so your financial aid is not jeopardized.
Complete an exit interview with your counselor should you decide to leave the program.
