Yakima Valley Community
College is launching a new application for email and text messaging alerts in
the event of emergencies and weather closures. It is called RAVE.
You will receive an email on April 14, 2014 from RAVE. It will include
directions on how to set up and manage your account and password. The default
setting will send email messages to the email account you have on file with
YVCC. If you prefer to receive a text message to your cellphone, you can log in and
add your number. This is a secure service that will not sell
your personal information.
If you have questions, contact Niki Hopkins in Community Relations at 574.6870
Technical questions or issues, contact the YVCC Helpdesk at 574.4717 or email
In the event that classes are cancelled due to weather the college will contact local media outlets including television and radio stations in Yakima and Tri-Cities. Be sure to listen for clarification on whether the closure is for Yakima Campus, Grandview Campus, or one of our learning centers. The notice will also include information about whether day and/or evening classes are affected. Evening students, please check the website in the late afternoon, as the status of the closure may change if weather changes.
The college will resume regular business hours the following day unless otherwise notified. The college website, www.yvcc.edu/alerts will also be used to communicate closures and updates,
Alerts will also be posted on School Report.org.
