Scholarship Overview
Our community of generous donors make it possible to award hundreds of thousands in scholarships annually. A single scholarship application matches you to various scholarships offered by the YVC Foundation. We offer scholarships based on field of study, financial need, academic performance and more. Each scholarship has its own set of criteria, but most require a minimum 2.0 GPA. You do not have to be FAFSA or WASFA eligible to apply.
Through the Yakima Valley College Foundation Scholarship site, applicants complete one application that automatically qualifies them for many available scholarships.
To be considered for Yakima Valley College Foundation scholarship, applicants must:
- Plan to attend and enroll at Yakima Valley College in the upcoming academic year
- Have a minimum college level 2.0 GPA
- Complete a narrative that includes personal and educational goals.
- Provide one recommendation letter from an instructor or employer
Scholarship applications open yearly on December 1 and close on the last day of February. You are welcome to start and stop work on your application as many times as you’d like during the application period.
There are additional requirements to qualify for YVC Foundation scholarships. Applicants will need to upload an unofficial transcript and provide one letter of recommendation.
All documents must be uploaded in PDF format.
All applicants are highly encouraged to complete the FAFSA or WASFA to maximize funding sources, including the YVC Foundation Scholarship.
For more information on applying for FAFSA or WASFA, see our college’s financial aid website. It is important that you add Yakima Valley College on the FAFSA or WASFA.
A copy of the applicant’s unofficial transcript is required to be uploaded into the scholarship application. Hard copies or emails will NOT be accepted. If less than one year of college level courses (100 or above) you must provide both high school and college transcripts
- Current Students: Save a copy and upload unofficial college transcripts from ctcLink.
- High School Students: Copy of most recent unofficial high school transcript.
- Running Start Students: Copy of current college and high school unofficial transcripts.
- Incoming Students: Unofficial high school transcripts or previous college or both if less than 3 quarters of college level courses.
Applicants who are awarded a scholarship are required to complete the following steps by the deadline provided by the Foundation. Failure to complete the award process by the deadline will result in an automatic forfeit of the scholarship and the scholarship will be awarded to another eligible applicant.
- Recipients must write thank you note(s) to their scholarship donors and send via mail or email to the Yakima Valley College Foundation no later than September 1. Failure to do so may result in the loss of scholarship awards. All scholarships will be sent to financial aid and added into scholar’s financial aid package by Fall quarter.
