Writing Center
The Writing Center — on the Yakima and Grandview campuses — is a resource for YVC students and faculty. Our primary purpose is to guide students to become better writers in a college setting.
In-Person Writing Assistance
The Yakima and Grandview Writing Centers (Glenn Anthon 125, Building #4 / Grandview Main, Building #56) are open for drop-in consultations. Please scroll down for specific hours.
For quick questions, our staff is also available by email at wcenter@yvcc.edu and by phone at 509.574.4829 (Yakima) or 509.882.7055 (Grandview).
ZOOM Writing Assistance
Schedule a Writing Center Zoom tutor appointment time. Once you’ve booked an appointment in an available slot, you will receive an email with a Zoom meeting link for the appropriate day and time. Note: appointments cannot be booked less than four hours in advance of the appointment. Please plan accordingly.
Email Writing Assistance
Email writing assistance allows you to receive feedback on your work when you can’t make it to one of the centers during our regular hours. If you prefer to receive writing assistance via email, please fill out and submit this form, and we will respond with feedback within two business days.
This service is intended for the use of YVC students only — Thank you!

Getting Assistance as You Write
We offer writing assistance through conversations about specific parts of your paper you are concerned about. These discussions take place in either Writing Center or through Zoom between you and a trained Writing Center tutor. We offer feedback on any writing project, including papers for all disciplines as well as college scholarship applications and letters. We also assist in the editing process by showing students proofreading strategies, ways to identify patterns of error, and how to use helpful handbooks and other resources.
