WENATCHEE — Casey Riedner and Jess Garcia hit back-to-back solo home runs in the bottom of the seventh inning Sunday to pull out a 5-4 Yakima Valley fastpitch win against Chemeketa and a 4-0 record at the Wenatchee Crossover Tournament.

Bigby shines for YVCC

As coach Chuck Bodeen put it simply, Brooke Bigby had herself a day.

The Yakima Valley Community College freshman pitched back-to-back shutouts and was 2-for-3 in both games with five RBI as the Yaks swept Columbia Basin 6-0, 4-0 in NWAAC East Region play on Friday.

Riedner earns academic award
YAKIMA HERALD-REPUBLIC

Riedner has been named an All-America Scholar Athlete by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association, having compiled a 4.0 grade point average at the college. A sophomore from Colton, Riedner is one of the Yaks catchers.
