YAKIMA -- One of the area's most accomplished basketball players is taking her skills to Eastern Oregon University next season.
Tana Stickney, a standout at both East Valley High School and Yakima Valley Community College has accepted a scholarship offers to play for the Mountaineers.
Stickney averaged 12.0 points and 6.0 rebounds in helping YVCC go 26-6 and finish fourth in the NWAACC Tournament this past season. During her Freshmen year she helped YVCC to their second consecutive Eastern Region Championship, and Fourth final four appearance at the championship tournament. During her tenure at YVCC the teams overall record was 55-10 and an amazing 28-1 at home.
The 5-foot-10 power forward also displayed good range, shooting 44 percent on 3-pointers for the Yaks last season.
Stickney figures to fill to void left by former Ellensburg and YVCC standout Tiffany Ulmer, who just finished her senior season with the Mountaineers.
Eastern Oregon has won five straight Cascade Conference titles and six in the past seven years.
