Welcome to IT 100 Online!

This Intro to Computers course will be delivered entirely online. There will be no on-campus orientation. Instead, your orientation will consist of reading through these pages. If, after reading, you have questions, please email me with the subject line of IT 100, your first & last name, topic of your email. You will be responsible for knowing the information contained within these introductory pages.

Throughout this course, it will be important for you to read and follow directions carefully. Patience in learning is important--things will not always happen instantly. If you don't understand something, remember your fellow students are resources (via the class discussion board) as well as your instructor. Please note this is not an independent study class in which you work through the entire quarter's work at your own pace. You will need to log in regularly and complete assignments and assessments within certain time periods.

In order to be successful in this course, you will need the following:

• The ability to read and follow directions
• Access to a computer with an internet connection and browser
• Access to a computer with Microsoft Office 2007 - not Microsoft Works or an earlier version of Microsoft Office. This course requires that you use the full version MS Office 2007, which includes the Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint software packages. Your computer may have MS Office 2007; if not, the computer labs on campus may be used to fulfill the course requirements. You should check right now to see if you have the necessary software (especially Access). If you don't, and are not able to use the computer labs, you will need to make other arrangements which may include purchasing the software.
• Competency in internet browsing and email use
• The ability to work independently
