Peer Writing Consultants
Peer writing consultants are students with varying backgrounds and majors who have proven themselves to be strong writers and have been trained to help other students with their writing projects. Some are earning credit through English 185, some hold work-study positions, and a few even volunteer their time.
NOTE: Because peer consultants are student writers themselves, they are not expected to explain the finer points of grammar or punctuation rules. Questions about the mechanics of writing should be addressed to lead consultants or the writing center director.
Lead Writing Consultants
Lead consultants are experienced writers and readers, who hold varied degrees and have extensive experience in writing-intensive fields. They help to train our peer consultants, hold individual conferences with students, create many of our writing center materials, and field questions about grammar and punctuation.
The Directors
Dodie Forrest and Mary Dahlin are die-hard writing center enthusiasts, writing instructors, writers, and coaches for the staff of consultants. Give them a call any time you have a question or comment about the Writing Center.
